The 2025 Met Gala served nothing short of elegance, masterpiece and pure style. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” reflected the exhibition’s focus on Black Dandyism and the rich history of Black fashion. Held on May 5, 2025, the carpet was overflowing with artistry. From sharp tailoring and silk textures to ancestral nods, it’s impossible to list every look that captured the hearts of everyone on the carpet.
Here are the top 8 looks, in no particular order, that truly embodied the spirit of the night.
1. S.Coups in BOSS
As the leader of Kpop group, SEVENTEEN, and global ambassador for BOSS, S.Coups took the carpet by storm. S.Coups’ custom outfit took inspiration from a traditional Korean hanbok jeogori jacket, with a matching gray wool flannel blazer with a hanbok double-breasted collar and coordinating stand-collar shirt. This jaw-dropping look was complimented by the public and reporters alike. His bold presence sets the tone for a powerful synergy with BOSS.

2. Zendaya in Louis Vuitton
The well-known, A-list actress made her arrival on the red carpet, posing in a white three-piece Louis Vuitton silk suit. To the naked eye, the fit may look a little too simple. However, paired with a matching, dramatic hat and elegant-yet-understated jewelry, Zendaya’s elegance radiated on the carpet, showcasing a sleek outfit, and perfectly embodying the theme of Black Dandyism.

3. Teyana Taylor in Ruth E. Carter and Marc Jacobs
In an ensemble that can only be pulled off by the icon herself, Teyana Taylor set the bar high for the 2025 Met Gala. The ultimate collaboration between two iconic designers, Taylor donned the most avant-garde look: a feathered fedora, red cane, jumbo rosettes, leather gloves, stacked wallet chains, custom Kiki boots, and a durag with a train of pleated fabric trailing behind. The star wore David Yurman jewelry to complete her look, including beautiful archival Renaissance brooches. It’s safe to say that Taylor became the Met Gala’s icon after that night.

4. Jodie Turner Smith in Burberry
Jodie Turner Smith turned heads at the Met Gala, posing in a burgundy Burberry outfit and an Esenshel hat. Her outfit, per Burberry, “pays homage to a portrait of Selina Lazevski, a Black Equestrian who lived during the Belle Époch in Paris and was photographed by Paul Nader in 1891. The coat’s cinched waist and bustle reference the Victorian silhouette captured in Lazevski’s portrait, switching traditional tailoring fabrics for leather embossed with an ornate floral design.”

Among the NFL stars on the carpet, Justin Jefferson definitely stood out with his fully-customized flouncy, pleated, Prince-of-Wales-check zoot suit. Designed by Public School, Jefferson’s bold presence and dramatic puffy shoulders stole the spotlight.

6. Damson Idris in Tommy Hilfiger
Damson Idris made a mesmerizing entrance wearing a fully custom Tommy Hilfiger racing suit, topped off with a red, white, and blue helmet encrusted with more than 20,000 Swarovski crystals. Being the master of red carpet moments, Idris shed the racing suit, only to unveil a fully bespoke red suit by Tommy Hilfiger. With the look based on his upcoming role in the film, F1, the British actor “fused fashion with racing heritage and high-impact glamour, delivering a show stopping moment to the red carpet that set the tone for the night ahead,” according to Hilfer.

7. Laura Harrier in GapStudio
Laura Harrier’s look took inspiration from a simple waistcoat and trousers and made it couture, producing an ethereal look for the carpet. Designed by Gap, Inc., creative director Zac Posen made a two-piece ensemble with airy, exaggerated sleeves, ultra-cinched waistline, and maybe one of the widest-leg pants made yet. The result is Black Dandyism, which was the Gala’s theme of the night. While the raw denim vest nods at workwear, it’s offset by silk satin trousers and a triple-layer pearl necklace. Fresh, radiant makeup by L’Oréal Paris finished the look, keeping the focus on those dramatic separates.

8. Lewis Hamilton in Wales Bonner
For the 2025 Met Gala, Lewis Hamilton teamed up with Wales Bonner to create the perfect modern dandy look. Bonner fashioned Hamilton in an ivory suit with a cropped jacket, high-waisted trousers with a tuxedo stripe, coattails, a white bow tie, an embroidered ivory sash hanging from his waistband, and topped off with a beret by Stephen Jones for the final touch. Hamilton’s outfit is a nod to Barkley L. Hendrick’s paintings and Black spiritual dressing, with the brand’s signature touches included as well.
