SA’s High School's teenage track sensation, Quincy Wilson, shared on a live stream and then globally on Instagram that he has finalised and signed his commitment to the University of Maryland, where he will continue his athletics career at the Division 1 level in the fall. After the then-16-year-old's impressive 4x400-meter relay performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing his name as the youngest American track Olympian in history, Wilson was arguably the most in-demand track recruit of the season, receiving offers from top colleges. Prior to the final announcement, Wilson shared how his decision came to five schools: Texas A&M, South Carolina, UCLA, USC and Maryland. Wilson evidently chose the Terrapins to remain in his home state of Maryland, closer to his family and friends.

Wilson’s career-best time of 44.10 seconds in the 400-meter is a U.S. high school record as well as the under-18 world record, and the second-fastest time ever by an under-20 athlete in this distance, according the Maryland. Based on Wilson's sporting success so far in his career, he is likely to become a major influence within the sport and for Team USA in the future seasons of athletics.
