In the last grass court tournament before Wimbledon, Jessica Pegula was able to have an upset over 5 Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. This marked Pegula’s 2nd WTA grass court title and ninth overall title. In a stunning close match, Pegula made a stunning comeback and won the title 6-4, 7-5. This win also ended Swiatek’s nine-match win streak in finals, which started in the French Open in 2023.

During the match, Pegula was able to hold serve the entire game. She played with a lower, flatter ball, which disrupted Swiatek’s game. Her strategic game allowed her to improve her head-to-head against Swiatek to 6-5.

This will give Pegula great confidence when she is heading towards Wimbledon, where she faces Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
