Arguably, the two best words in sports: Game Seven. The NBA Finals 2025, which have been nothing short of exhilarating and unpredictable, all came down to the final game between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder at home. What promised to be a drama-filled game met its quota, though not in the way the Pacers would have desired.

Midway through the first quarter, with the game poised, the Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton found a brutal end to a brilliant playoff run. The point guard found himself exiting the game following what turned out to be an injury near the Achilles region of his right leg.

The big blow seemed to provide some motivation for the Pacers, their cast prepared to win it for Indiana as much as Haliburton. Late in the third quarter, the two teams were separated by just two points in what was surely going to be a nail-biting finish. However, following some quick successive three-pointers by the Oklahoma City Thunder built a cushion that the Pacers could not overcome again.

The Thunder maintained their lead throughout the fourth quarter and won the 2025 NBA Finals. This capped off a sensational run by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who won the regular season MVP award for the first time, as well as the scoring title, Western Conference MVP, and Finals MVP. The twenty-six-year-old found himself at the helm of history on Sunday, wrapping up what would be a brilliant season for the young and promising Oklahoma City team.
