On his Truth Social platform, president Donald Trump shared a conspiracy theory Saturday night alleging that Joe Biden died in 2020 and has been replaced by a ‘clone.’ He suggested that Biden was actually executed and did not add any commentary for his repost of the original post.

The claim has been widely debunked by the media and many experts, who report that this is one of another of Trump’s baseless comments. No credible evidence of Biden being executed and replaced by a clone exists, with many saying that it will contribute to a rapid spread of misinformation.

Many also speculate that Trump's repost was purposeful in that it aligns with Biden's shaky health, as he was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Despite his diagnosis, President Biden has publicly expressed optimism about his recovery process and related information.

This incident serves as a strong warning for the ongoing challenges that face the modern world regarding the spread of conspiracy theories. To help promote critical thinking, public leaders need to be more careful about fueling a false situation in today’s digital age.
